Workshops

These are usually one day sessions, although I have given some of them as mini breaks for H.F. Holidays, spread over a couple of days or a weekend. If you would like me to run a workshop for your club or group please ring me on 01297 442602 for further details, so we can discuss your requirements.
WADE IN
Water in your garden can be a great asset. It reflects the sky giving light and sparkle to the darkest of spaces and it attracts a whole range of wildlife. This workshop covers ponds, bog gardens and self contained water features.
BERRIED TREASURE
Your garden can inspire you even in the dreariest months of the year.This workshop covers hard landscaping, evergreens, winter flowers, and the many shrubs and trees that have berries;
A WOODLAND GARDEN
If your garden is shaded by established trees or by neighbouring buildings, some plants fail miserably. This workshop shows you how to make the most of your shade by using plants that enjoy being protected from hot sun. We also look at a range of modest trees for those of you who want to create more shade.
A TOUCH OF JAPAN
This workshop focuses on how to give your garden an oriental feel, creating an atmosphere of calm and serenity throughout the year. It covers examples of gardens in Japan and we consider how to adapt their qualities to our own gardens.
MAINTENANCE - WHAT'S THAT?
This workshop looks at all the ways of making your garden as low maintenance as possible so that you have more time to enjoy your outside space, instead of always strimming, weeding and watering! We consider both hard landscaping and planting.
OFF WITH THEIR HEADS
Pruning sometimes appears to be a minefield of contradictory instructions, and the neat orderly diagrams in your gardening books in no way match the triffids in your garden. This workshop shows you how to prune with courage and confidence.
REACH FOR THE SKY
Climbers are Nature's entrepreneurs - starting from nothing and reaching great heights in next to no time. This workshop shows you the many possibilities of capitalizing on their energy and enthusiasm to give you year round cover and interest.
At all workshops participants are encouraged to bring pictures or plans of their own gardens so we can discuss and resolve specific questions or problems. Also bring any twigs or flowers you need identifying.
